Wow.

Well, today was unexpectedly successful. I did a bit more to my latest Caladria story, and then once I’d hit a natural stopping point there I moved onto sorting out some of the first steps of my new attempt at making The Thing About Bowler Hats into an actual thing – a novel-shaped thing. That, too, is going surprisingly well so far, especially since I’m working in Scrivener and can move scenes around all I like as I go.

Anyway, I’ve had a great wordcount today – the best since April 1st – I’ve crossed the 10k line for the month, and I’m really happy with what I’ve achieved.

Yes, I had to abandon Camp NaNo but shhh. There’s always July.

Oh, and A Pride of Poppies is out tomorrow! Very exciting!

Total written today: 1655 words.

April total: 10982 words.

2015 total so far: 79534 words.

Talk to you tomorrow!

40 minutes left of today…

…And so far I’ve written nothing. However, that is mostly because I’ve been working out how the families of characters I’ve been given for my latest Caladria story fit together. It’s taken two separate family trees, but I’ve sussed them. Now to spend my last 40 minutes of Wednesday trying to get something written!

I’ve also been chatting to my media contact about Poppies, so that’s looking like the article will run (fingers crossed).

Gotta go and write now – talk to you tomorrow!

[Midnight update:

Total written today: 273 words.

April total so far: 9327 words.

2015 total so far: 77879 words.]

Oh dear…

Standard

So today involved a lot more sitting in waiting rooms, which is great for people-watching but rubbish for getting any writing done. I also woke up with a headache, and it only got worse after I finally had my blood test, so I spent most of the day in bed.

On the other hand, I did get at least one very promising reply to my article. Fingers crossed all goes well with that! Hopefully I can also get some writing done over the next few days – lots to do!

Talk to you tomorrow!

Plans afoot!

Standard

Alright, scold me all you want, I’ve written nothing today. However, I spent a very exciting afternoon planning out a big Caladria project with the boss, so that’s brilliant. I’m going to be starting to write that during the summer, but I really can’t wait. It’s going to be really good fun!

I’ve also got some exciting news about Queer Company, where we’re launching A Pride of Poppies – there’s going to be a short Q & A about the anthology and yours truly has somehow found herself on the panel! So that should be fun. Registration is still open until the 3rd of May (or until places run out) so if you have a burning desire to see me in person for some reason, feel free to sign up and come along!

The rest of my time today has been spent sitting in a doctor’s waiting room and then filling in an online application form that didn’t want to accept how long the name of my sixth-form college is, but I feel productive. Calling it a night now(ish) as I have to go and get some blood drawn tomorrow – hopefully – which means getting up early. At least I’m allowed to eat! After that, hopefully I’ll get some writing done.

Talk to you tomorrow!

A little progress

Standard

So, today I did a bit of planning for the now-looking-to-be-a-novel Bowler Hat idea from a while back, and also wrote 118 words of it, which seemed like more on my phone. I’m not sure where those 118 words fit in, but there we go.

Also – yesterday I forgot to mention that the lovely Elin Gregory interviewed me about A Pride of Poppies. I recommend you check that out, especially if you’re still on the fence about buying the book. Also on the same blog are interviews with several other Poppies authors, so give those a look too.

Alright, I think that’s all I’ve got for today, so I’ll leave you with my wordcounts.

Total written today: 118 words.

April total so far: 9054 words.

2015 total so far: 77606 words.

Knocked flat…

Well, that cold that’s been brewing for ages has finally caught up with me, which is really annoying since I had plans for today and they all had to be rearranged so I could stay in bed and feel sorry for myself while sneezing a lot. Irritating – but never mind. Bad days happen. Bad weeks happen. The important thing is not to give up entirely.

A couple of things I should mention:

  • Caladria’s Fab Fables Issue #4 is out tonight for the low, low price of £1.25 to read online or on your eReader. I’ve got a story in there, and one I edited, so I hope you enjoy the issue if you get it!
  • I’ll be at Queer Company in Oxford on the 9th of May for the official launch of A Pride of Poppies. More info here – I think there are more spaces if you want to come along.

Talk to you soon!
