I should write fanfic more often…

Standard

I got a lot of writing done this evening! I’m starting Camp NaNoWriMo tomorrow (though I can’t guarantee I’ll entirely focus on Serious Writing), so I wanted to just do something light-hearted and short. And… well, 604 words into a new fanfiction in a new pairing in a new universe, I’m exhausted and calling it a night.

Total written today: 604 words.

March total so far: 3437 words.

2016 total so far: 23674 words.

Talk to you tomorrow!

Another slow day

…But slow and steady wins the race, and it’s finally starting to look like I’m winning the editing battle with A Certain Persuasion. Hurrah!

Total written today: 255 words.

March total so far: 2833 words.

2016 total so far: 23070 words.

Slow progress

Standard

There’s been a lot going on the last few days, with house redecoration and cleaning and things. Still, I’ve managed to get some words written on the rewritten section of my A Certain Persuasion story, so I’m happy enough.

Total written today: 275 words.

March total so far: 2578 words.

2016 total so far: 22815 words.

Keeping going…

Standard

I’m quite busy at the moment, and I’m also battling low mood and anxiety, but I’m trying to get on with at least a little writing each day. Today it was the rewrites for A Certain Persuasion, which is going pretty well and definitely looks better with the changes already.

Total written today: 462 words.

March total so far: 2303 words.

2016 total so far: 22540 words.

A rewrite begins

Standard

I will admit that I spent a fair amount of today sleeping and eating chocolate (though not at the same time). However, tonight I managed to rewrite one of three short sections of my submission to A Certain Persuasion, and while I love the scene I just rewrote infinitely more in its current form, I’m a little annoyed about it. You see, there’s a character who briefly appears before their unfortunate death towards the beginning of the story, and this scene is making me get to know – and therefore like – them more. Now I feel guilty and my heart aches. Anyway, the scene could use a bit more work, I think, but until I sort out the other two parts I won’t know quite what needs changing in the first one.

Total written today: 553 words.

March total so far: 1841 words.

2016 total so far: 22078 words.

Edit Day!

Standard

I got my editing orders through for my A Certain Persuasion story, so I mostly just whizzed through and did the minor corrections on that. I do have a more major bit to rewrite, so that’s the plan for tomorrow. I think it looks better than it did already, though, so that’s a good feeling.

Talk to you tomorrow (barring distractions)!

Not what I’d hoped…

Standard

I knocked out about a thousand words of Father Didn’t Dance earlier, and don’t get me wrong, I’m really proud of that. I’d hoped to get a few hundred more done later on, but my day turned a bit sour so now I’m going to play endless high-speed games of 2048 and Tetris until my feelings go away. And eat loads of biscuits.

Don’t worry, everything’s OK, but it’s really annoying when somebody can’t respect your wishes, especially when they come at you through work. I’ll get over it, I’m just not in a writing mood now.

Total written today: 1144 words.

March total so far: 1288 words.

2016 total so far: 21525 words.

Talk to you tomorrow, I hope.

I did it!

Standard

Well, I got some of that novel done. It’s a continuation of my original story for A Certain Persuasion – the one that got too long for the anthology. I wrote a prequel to it for the anthology itself, and I’m hoping to finish this one, which is sort of a companion to Pride and Prejudice. Now, I don’t feel like I’ve written a lot, but it’s more than I’ve written in a long time, and I’ve really missed writing, so getting back to it is a real achievement.

Total written today: 144 words.

March total so far: 144 words.

2016 total so far: 20381 words.

Talk to you soon, hopefully!

Deja Vu

Standard

Hi, everyone.

I know – I said I was back, and then I disappeared again. The truth is, I’m having a really bad spell with my Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and it’s making it really hard to do anything – including write. I’m working on it, and I hope to be back on top soon. Unfortunately this is one of those conditions where all you can really do is fight your way through every day, and you win some, but you lose some. I’ve been struggling for the best part of two months, now, so I’m due an upturn at some point. At least, I hope so!

I’ll be attempting to finish a novel I started before this bad spell began during Camp NaNoWriMo in April (username Masqueblanc if you want to add me), and though my track record with that particular event isn’t as good as with the main NaNoWriMo challenge, I’m going to give it my best shot.

Now, I’m going to go and try to write something, so I might be back later with a word count, but I can’t promise anything.

Thanks for sticking with me!

Uninspired

Standard

I may have spoken too soon when I said I was back. I’m still having a lot of trouble keeping focused on things, and my mood is still pretty low, so although I’ve managed to get some editing done over the last week, I still haven’t actually done any writing.

That said, I have at least got some editing done, with more to follow, and hopefully my writing mojo will come back with time. I’m probably going to attempt to write some fanfiction at some point soon, because that is generally easier to get into than original work.

Thanks for bearing with the sporadic updates – talk to you soon!
