Fast fanfiction!

Tonight, having spent most of the day not writing, I checked for reviews on one of my fanfiction accounts and found not only a few reviews, but also a request. Now, my fanfiction readers were reading my writing long before I got even a sniff at an anthology, and I’m indebted to every single one of them, but I’ve been neglecting them horribly of late because I’ve been working on original stuff. So I decided tonight would be a fanfiction night, so I could fill that request and remind my fanfic friends I still love them. Besides, I missed it!

Fast forward about thirty-six minutes and I’d written 700 words, a whole little story to add to one of my short fic collections. So I thought I’d try to cram in maybe two or three hundred words of Bowler Hat novel, too, since it was about twenty-five minutes to midnight. Apparently the muses were smiling on me tonight, because I came out with nearer 800! Hopefully they’re not rubbish.

More colouring than writing…

Today I’ve been doing a bit of colouring to relax myself – it’s one of my favourite ways to zone out, when I’m not writing – so once again all my writing has been crammed into the last hour and a half of the day. I have got some interesting stuff down, though! I’ve also made myself a reference picture of a terrifying dragon, because I sort of needed to see it being terrifying before I could describe it. If you happen to read Caladria’s Fab Fables Issue #6 when it comes out next month, you might see why. Hopefully you won’t, because it’ll be flawlessly executed…

A really good day!

Today I wrote some more Bowler Hat project – I’m excited about where it’s going next, although slightly concerned that I may have to edit a lot of what’s gone before – and started a short piece for another anthology. So I’m pretty happy about that!

Next month’s goal is to get back to longer, more interesting blog posts. I have some products to review, too, which I think might interest some of you!

Anyway, tonight I’ve done a tiny bit of editing, had a ninety-minute online meeting about my upcoming Caladria series(!) and got a bit of Bowler Hats done after the majority of my family went to bed. Yay!

A late start

…But I think I’ve done pretty well. Lots of progress on the Bowler Hat project – now just over 25k words long – and I also managed to drop into #writingchat on Twitter for a little while earlier. So that was lovely.

Progress has been made!

Today I’ve just been working on the Bowler Hat project, and once I stopped procrastinating and got down to it, I think I did pretty well. I’ve actually reached the end of Chapter 6 (by my current reckoning – chapters are one of those things that tend to be quite fluid and changeable) of my first draft, almost half the minimum word count I want to reach for the whole novel, and I’ve got plenty of story to go. I actually would have got more done today, but I wandered off to hash out a few more character models on The Sims 4 so I have some nice new visual references for some of the most recent (and upcoming) characters.

I also found out today that I’ve won an eBook from Improbable Press, a new imprint that is about to publish one of the writers I met at Queer Company the other week. I won’t get the book until it comes out in October, but they continue to run a draw for people who like their Facebook page. I think they’re for a slightly more adult market than the things I tend to write, but if you’re into Sherlock Holmes, and particularly if you like to see more than friendship in his relationship with John Watson, it’s worth checking out the link nearer the start of the paragraph.

An early one again

Alright, I’m calling it quits on the writing front for tonight. Today was very productive – got a lot of Caladria stuff done with Leah and Cal, and also churned out a fair bit of Bowler Hat madness.

EDIT: Oh, yeah – and speaking of Caladria, Issue #5 of Fab Fables is out tonight! There’s a lot of me in this one (I’m actually involved in 4 of the 5 stories, no idea how that happened) so if you want to support me and the awesome Caladria team, this is the one to buy. Under the weather

Well, today I woke up feeling pretty grotty and got gradually more of a headache until mid-afternoon, when I gave up and went back to bed. I have managed to finish off some Caladria editing, and crammed some Bowler Hat writing into the last hour of the day. I only managed about half a thousand words, but that’s not too bad for a weekend day, especially with being ill. And I’m having a lot of fun with some of my secondary characters!

Slowing down!

No excuse, today, really. Went up the market, got drenched, went back to sleep for a bit, and woke up some time later than I’d meant to.

In the end, I got distracted by the TV and such, but I have at least written a few words of the Bowler Hat thing. Seriously, I hope a title leaps out at me at some point. Coming up with titles is the bane of my life.

I’m on a roll…

Well, today I took a while to get into the swing of things, but once I did it went pretty well. I got well and truly caught up in the part of the story I’m working on, so that was lovely. It’s great when that happens. That’s the Bowler Hat project, by the way (I really need to name it properly), and it’s shaping up nicely… I think.
